meet the breeds: please touch
Showdogs may be pedigreed, beautifully groomed, and well-trained, but they are still pets who live with and love people. At most dog events, you see them busy in the ring with handlers, or snoozing in their crates. That's why MHKA looks forward to August, when the Dutchess County Fair gives members an opportunity to invite the public to meet their canine family face-to-snout.
From August 24th to 29th, MHKA members will be in the Canine tent to answer your questions about dogs and dog care, demonstrate canine sports, and introduce you to their favorite canines at the "Meet the Breeds" table. For children, it's a great chance to pet well-behaved dogs and learn about dog safety; and for anyone thinking about adopting a dog, it's an opportunity check out different breeds and learn their characteristics from experts. In addition, MHKA will host a rally, mock dog show, and Canine Good Citizenship test. The Canine tent will be open from 11am-9pm each day. For information about activities, or if you want to volunteer, contact Gail Pace. ![]() ![]() ![]()
